COBRAC 2024 is a technical-scientific event, held since 1994 in Florianópolis by UFSC, currently organized by the Postgraduate Program in Transportation Engineering and Land Management – PPGTG, the Department of Civil Engineering and the Territory Observation and Transformation Group – GOTT.

The event also has the support of professors and researchers from other UFSC’s departments and also from other institutions, such as: Department of Geosciences (CFH/UFSC) and Department of Architecture and Urbanism (CTC/UFSC); State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC) through the Geoprocessing Laboratory (GeoLab); Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC); Ministry of Cities; Federal University of Bahia (UFBA); National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform (INCRA); Federal Revenue Service of Brazil (RFB); Municipal Department of Planning and Urban Intelligence of Florianópolis.

The Congress is in its 16th edition, being held every two years. The 16th COBRAC has the theme “The Multipurpose Cadastre as a basis for Sustainable Development” and will take place between the 11th and 13th of November this year, in a location to be defined, in Florianópolis/SC.

The conference program includes oral and poster presentations,, round tables and conferences. National and international lecturers are expected and will discuss current topics of land cadastre in Brazil and worldwide, in order to update the participating public in the area of knowledge that fits the event, where the surveys and management methods, inherent in the multifunctional land cadastre, are essential for an effective regional and urban planning.

Since it is a multidisciplinary event, it has the participation of students from different undergraduate and graduate courses, professors and professionals from the public and private sector from different countries. The expressive participation of the public has been fundamental for the sustainability of the event, which, as previously mentioned, has been held for  30 years.

Once again, it is expected that COBRAC will be a unique opportunity to exchange experiences and show the recent advances in research and technological development in areas related to Multipurpose Cadastre. At the same time, the event aims to provide and renew motivations for participants to continue developing their work, whatever their field of activity in society, and to continue contributing to the strengthening of the cadastral culture.

COBRAC, throughout its trajectory, has become a place for paper publications that discuss the theme in national and international scenarios and has contributed to professional training. The access to debate results allows institutions that manage cadastre to have a critical view in different topics related to territory and land administration. COBRAC has served as the basis for the main advances promoted in our country in terms of land cadaste.

Seeking to maintain the standard of previous events, the COBRAC 2024 organizing committee’s proposal is to promote an event that provides an important exchange of experiences and knowledge, bringing scientific knowledge closer to current demands and training professionals to meet the needs of society. In this sense, the program will have a structure for holding the congress that ensures the expected results.
